IPL 2021 Points Table
The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is making a homecoming after it was slated in UAE last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. IPL 2021 will be played in India from April 9 to May 30. Eight franchises/teams are battling it out in 60 matches across six venues with the ultimate goal to win the coveted T20 league.
What Is The Points Scoring System In IPL 2021 League Stage
The eight teams in the fray will play against each other twice in the round-robin stage of the league. The winner of each match will be awarded two points, while one point will be split between teams in case of a no result (abandonment) in the game. In case a match ends in a tie in the regulation 40-overs, the result of the game will be decided by a Super Over.
How Are The Rankings/Standings Of Teams In Points Table Determined
The standings in the IPL 2021 Points Table will be decided on the number of points each team secures on the basis of a win or a tie. If two teams are tied on the same number of points, then Net Run Rate (NRR) is taken into consideration to decide the rankings.
Which Teams Qualify For The Knockouts And The Grand Finale?
The top four teams in the IPL 2021 points table at the end of the league stage (points and NRR) will qualify for the knock-out stages in the tournament. The two teams which will finish first and second on the points table will lock horns in the Play-Off or Qualifier 1 and the winner of the contest will automatically qualify for the IPL Final.
The teams which finish third and fourth on the points table will clash in Eliminator 1. The winner of Eliminator 1 moves into Qualifier 2, where they take on the losing team from Play-off or Qualifier 1 for a place in the grand finale.
