Lionel Messi finally did it. At the age of 34, the soccer legend won his first major trophy with Argentina, winning the 2021 Copa America against his countrys archrivals Brazil and on their home turf. The conquest also ended a 28-year drought without a Copa America for Argentina.

Its the 15th regional championship for Argentina, matching Uruguay for the most titles ever won. Highlights of the final follow below:

The 47th edition of the world’s longest-running international soccer tournament was originally scheduled for 2020 in Colombia and Argentina, but it was pushed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Two weeks before kickoff it was also moved to Brazil, where four venues hosted all the matches: Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Cuiaba and Goiania.

Except for the final, the entire 2021 schedule was played behind closed doors without fans due to the pandemic. Local government officials only permitted 5,000 fans at Rio de Janeiros Maracana for the final, about half of the free tickets allotted to each team.
