What is FASTag?

FASTag is a device that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to make toll payments directly from the prepaid account linked to it. It is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle and enables the user to drive through toll plazas, without stopping for cash transactions. The tag has a validity of 5 years and one only needs a FASTag recharge to top up the tag as per requirement.

What are the benefits of using this tag?

On which roads can I use this tag?

This tag is presently operational at 320+ highway toll plazas across national and state highways. We will be including more toll plazas under this program in the future. You may see the list of plazas in the Active Toll Plazas section.

What sort of charges exist for this tag?

Currently, the program has a one-time fee of ₹200, including service tax. The refundable security deposit depends on the vehicle type. Please check the Fees and Charges section for more details.

How can I buy FASTag?

You may visit any of the Point of Sale (POS) locations at Toll Plazas/IDFC FIRST Bank Sales offices to get your tag account created. You may call our FASTag customer care @18002669970 to know more details.

What are the documents needed to apply for this tag?

You will need to carry originals, as well as copies of your KYC document. You will also need to submit the following documents along with the application:

  • Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle
  • Passport-size photograph of the vehicle owner
  • KYC documents as per the category of the vehicle owner

Our representative will give you an application form, which you need to fill and submit. All required documents should be in the name of the owner of the vehicle. If the car owner is not present at the time of application, the driver will need to submit their photo ID proof. A valid driving license would be sufficient for Address & ID proof.

Do I need to use any specific lane at the toll plaza for FASTag?

Yes, you will have to use the lanes demarcated for tag holders. 

How can I do a FASTag recharge from my account?

You may do a FASTag recharge by making a payment by means of a cheque or online through a Credit Card/Debit Card/NEFT/RTGS, or through Net Banking.

How can I change my login ID and password?

For a single account, your FASTag Login ID cannot be changed. However, you may update your password through the “Change Password” option after logging into your account. The “Change Password” button is available under every menu item.

If I do not remember my password, how can I log into my account?

If you cannot remember your password, click on the “Forgot Password” option at the FASTag login screen. Follow the steps to reset your password and you will be able to log into your account.

How can I change my contact number/address?

How can I change my Bank account number through the portal?

How can I complete a FASTag purchase for new tags?

Please contact our Agent/Distributor. You can also make an enquiry on the number mentioned under the “Service Request” page to further know the locations of retail outlets where you can complete your FASTag purchase for the new tags.

How to recharge FASTag online on one tag from another tag?

Yes, you can do a FASTag recharge online on one tag from another tag under the “Funds Transfer Services”.

Do I need to maintain a minimum balance in my tag?

Yes, a particular minimum amount is necessary for every tag depending on its vehicle class, or product subscribed. If the tag has an amount that is lesser than the minimum balance, it will not work and will be marked in the ‘Low Balance Tag’ category. You will need to do a FASTag recharge to top up your balance. 

Is it safe to do a FASTag recharge online from my customer login?

Yes, a FASTag recharge is absolutely safe. Transactions will be done through a secure Electronic Payment gateway.

If I have sold my old vehicle, but want to use the same tag for my new vehicle, how can I update my vehicle details?

You will not be able to, as these tags are tamper-proof. You will need to request a new tag. We would recommend not doing a FASTag recharge till you get a new tag for your vehicle. 

How do I remove the tag from my account if I am selling my vehicle?

Same as above. Customers will need to put in a request for a replacement/refund. 

What will happen if my tag is damaged in an accident?

You will need to contact your Agent/Distributor as soon as possible. You can go online using your FASTag login details to make an enquiry. You can do this on the number mentioned under our “Service Request” page to further know the locations of retail outlets who can replace the damaged tags. 

Is there any fee for a tag replacement?

Yes, a one-time replacement fee of Rs. 200 is applicable for every tag replacement. You will still be able to do a FASTag recharge online from your account to top up your balance. 

Who will I need to contact in case of any issue with my tag?

You can contact our FASTag customer care help desk. You may also contact your Agent/Distributor. You can go online using your FASTag login details to make an enquiry. You can do this on the number mentioned under our “Service Request” page to further know the locations of retail outlets who can help for issues related with your tag.

How can I check the list of transactions for my tag/vehicle?

Enter the portal with your FASTag login details. A detailed list of transactions for the associated tags/vehicle will be available under the ‘Account Statement’.

Corporate Customers can download Pool Account statement as well*.

How can I deactivate my tag or close my FASTag account?

You can contact our FASTag customer care help desk. You may also contact your Agent/Distributor. You can go online using your FASTag login details to make an enquiry. You can do this on the number mentioned under our “Service Request” page to further know the locations of retail outlets who can help for issues related with your tag. 

Is there any account-closing or deactivation fee?

Currently there is no account closing fee applicable.

At the time of account closure, is any money refundable?

Yes, the security amount is refundable, along with any remaining balance left in your tag.

What are the documents needed to apply for this program?

Since it is linked to an account, KYC documentation would be required as per the KYC policy of the Issuer Bank. Apart from the KYC documentation, you need to submit the  Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle, along with your application.

If the tag is linked to a prepaid account, it can be issued as per the limits defined below:

1) Limited KYC account holder

2) Full KYC account holder

This type of account cannot have more than Rs. 10,000*/- limit in their (Prepaid) account. The monthly reload limit is also capped at Rs. 10,000/-.
Requirements: Minimum KYC details (as per Issuer bank policy), vehicle RC Copy, Photo of the customer.
*Limits prescribed by RBI till 30th December

This type of account cannot have more than Rs. 1 Lakh limit in their (Prepaid) account. There is no monthly reload cap in this account.
Requirements: Full KYC details (as per Issuer bank policy), vehicle RC Copy, Photo of the customer.

Can I avail a monthly pass?

Monthly pass for a toll plaza will be issued at that particular toll plaza or the POS locations put by the Acquirer Bank of the toll plaza. If you have completed your FASTag registration, you need to visit the toll plaza [or the Acquirer Bank POS locations] and request for the particular pass scheme. You need to pay for the selected pass scheme by cash or card to the operator. Once the payment is approved, the operator will activate the affixed tag for the pass scheme.

Note: There is no need to complete a FASTag purchase for any other RFID tag to avail a monthly pass scheme at any toll plaza. The tag already purchased by you will be configured for the pass at the toll plaza.

Can this tag be used for passage through toll plazas on state highways?

We are presently operational at 346+ toll plazas across National Highways. The system is interoperable, and if you have completed your FASTag registration, the same tag can be used across all toll plazas under the NETC program. I reside within 10 km of a particular toll plaza. Will I need a tag to get the concessions available for local vehicles?

You can buy FASTag online to avail the concessions. Once you complete your FASTag purchase, you will need to submit the required documents (proof of residence) at the Acquiring Bank POS location to validate your residence, within 10 km of a particular plaza. Once it is verified, you may avail the concession on the tag assigned to your vehicle. You will also be able to do a FASTag recharge online to top up your tag. 

In case of any harassment/misconduct/discourteous/rude behaviour of toll collection staff, what should I do?

In case of such a scenario, a complaint is to be lodged with respective Project Directors at the toll plaza. Further, the incident may be reported to us via our email at etc.nodal@ihmcl.com. You may also contact the FASTag customer care help desk to lodge a complaint.
